New refrigerators often get delivered without anyone hauling the old one away, and the old one ends up in the garage running up the electric bill. Chest freezers are worse: they live in basements for decades and they’re heavy and bulky to carry up a staircase.
We carry out refrigerators and freezers of any size, from any floor, and haul them away. You don’t have to rent a dolly or call in a favor.
We pick up:
A fridge that still has food in it isn’t ready to go. See the prep tips below. Have a commercial cooler? Call or send a photo and we’ll confirm.
Doing these the day before keeps the pickup clean:
Refrigerators, freezers and other cold appliances hold refrigerant. Under the federal Clean Air Act, that refrigerant has to be recovered by properly equipped technicians before the unit is scrapped or disposed of. That’s why an old fridge shouldn’t be tossed in with general trash or left at the curb for weeks.
Most of what’s left, the steel cabinet, copper lines and compressor, is metal. If you have questions about how your unit will be handled after it leaves, ask when you call and we’ll talk it through.
We handle refrigerator & freezer removal in Upper St. Clair, South Fayette, Cecil Township and North Strabane, plus every town in our service area, about 15 miles around Canonsburg.
Call or text (412) 905-9453, or send a request through our online form. You can include photos.
We’ll tell you what to expect before any work starts.
We load everything and clean up after ourselves, and we donate or recycle what we can.
We’re available 7 days a week, 7am to 7pm.
Please empty it first. Spoiled food leaks and smells, and it can’t be recycled with the fridge. If you’re cleaning out a home where that isn’t possible, tell us when you call and we’ll talk it through.
Yes. Chest freezers are heavy and awkward, but we carry them up basement stairs regularly. Tell us how wide the stairway is and whether there’s a turn.
Older fridges used Freon and newer ones use other refrigerants. Either way, federal rules require it to be recovered before the unit is scrapped. Ask us when you call if you’d like to know how yours will be handled.
Yes. Mini fridges, dorm fridges and wine coolers are common pickups. Empty and unplug them a day ahead, the same as a full-size fridge.
Yes, if the garage is open or you’ve given us access and the fridge is empty and unplugged.
